O.B.D... Yeah You Know Me!

Maybe you know this guy:

He's the cousin to the "Too-Broke-To-Pay-For-Anything-
Dude", and goes by the name of "Spend-My-Would-Be-
Marketing-Money-On-Cigarrettes-Drive-Thrus-And-The-
Seventy-Dollar-Per-Month-Movie-Channel-Package-On-
Cable-With-A-Twenty-Nine-Ninety-Five-Pay-Per-View-Of-
Amazon-Mud-Wrestling-On-The-Side-Guy".

Whew!... Man, he's GOT to change his name!

First off, let me say that I'm not pickin on anyone,
but the truth is that if you WANT something bad enough,
you WILL find a way. I know this from firsthand. I am
the "Original Broke Dude". OBD... that's me!

But honestly, no matter how broke most people say they
are, there are things they pay for, without even a
second thought mind you, that is producing absolutely
no benefit other than making them sick (hey thats no
benefit to me) or amusing themselves for a while.

I myself have talked to friends, trying to let them
know just a little of what I've learned during my two
years of seriously trying to make this "internet
thingy" work. I've wasted a lot of time and energy and
just a little cash.

I'm not rich yet, but I plan on getting there now that
I know what does and doesn't work. When talking to my
buds, I try and encourage them to come along for the
ride, just to hear "I can't afford it, I ain't got no
time"

I mean, just look at it this way.. cut out a couple of
bad money-sucking habits and there's the "elusive"
capital for an online venture.

Okay, we'll use our "bud" Bud as an example.

Let's look at some numbers here, I'll keep it simple
'cause I never was good with Geography. Check this out.

Here's a couple things Bud spends his cash on:

Cable/Movie Package                     $ 70.00
Smokes @ 1 carton per week x 4     $100.00
Monthly Total                                 $170.00

Now that's counting a month with four weeks, some
months would add another $25.00. Now, if Bud stopped
going thru the drive thru every time he passes it, then
we can add probably a little over $50 to the monthly
total.

Now Folks, that frees up an average of $240 of "throwaway" cash. Mercy, Bud.

Of course for those Bud's, who like me don't smoke,
then we can probably can add $20 to the Drive Thru
Total. That'll give the "no-smokes Bud" the same amount
or thereabouts.

If you are using the "Broke Dude" or "Broke Gal"
approach to keep away from trying your hand at making
money on the web, take another look at what you are
actually spending your money on, then consider it
again.

"Yeah, but I still ain't got the time."

Oh Geeze.......

This is actually the easier of the two excuses to fix.
Try this:

1. Make a list of what you need to do the night before.
You will find that you get more things done, with some
time to spare.

2. Nix the "Tube". How much money has watching every
episode of "Buddies" actually made you? TV eats tons of
time and money, plus with the money you'll save on the
food you keep in your hand, it'll add to your "Net Capital" stash.

3. Prioritize your life. Decide what's important to you
and your family, then cut back on everything else.
You'll free up more time than you think.

Wow, you mean you read this far? Hey if you can get
through this then you belong on the 'net with the rest
of us crazy net marketers.

If I've sparked an interest or you have any questions,
comments or would like your palm read, please drop me
an email.

You Folks are the Greatest, and I love each and every
one of you, and you know it's true.
